I interpret the SC's recklessness as more of an issue with overconfidence. The exceptions are Pcell who makes a retreat via a structure conversion tower and the lone SC who'se interest was mapping a wall a ridiculous distance away. This suggests that even within the ranks of the SC there is a significant variation in personality archetypes.

Don't Ivy and Maeve retreat after being defeated by Seu?
Just wondering, but what would that mean to you?
And on the topic of emotions, does anyone else think that Ivy acts a little overprotective of her if she's just his subordinate?
I just remember the bit where Seu cleft her in two and Ivy says "BASTARD!!"
and then there was the other time where the SC were considering the option of inserting Maeve into the advanced SC chassis and he said "Do it!"

I just take it as it is and choose not to read too much into it. I see no glaring errors, which in itself is praiseworthy. As they say; if you did it right nobody will know you did anything at all.

As much as I agree with you on that post, I have to say: Doesn't Nihei Tsutomu want people to look into it like that and find their own answers that way?
I thought that was pretty much the point of telling the story the way he does.

Probably.
Building hypothesis on top of not much but speculation can be counter-constructive, often times no reasonable consensus can be reached. It's easy to reach for the stars and call that a theory, much harder to build a truth that is cohesive and meaningful within the confines of the box. ;3
I don't mean any offense, it's just that I don't think that where the topic is going is going to bring us any closer to a resolution of the question originally posed.

True indeed. I merely wanted to hear what other people thought and from that, come up with my own theory that makes sense of why the SC do what they do.
You didn't really even need to put "No offense." I thank you and everyone else for the input.
