Post subject: | A Nihei Imitator |
I know there have been other threads about Nihei imitators and influences, but somehow I don't remember anyone mentioning the comic miniseries Beowulf from Antarctic Press. It came out a couple of years ago as several single issues but I think it's been collected since. From the first cover you can see a lot of Nihei influence, especially Wolverine Snikt, I think. You can read them all at . Search for "Beowulf", "David Hutchinson", or "Antarctic Press." It's free, but you need to create an account. The thing is, his style changes from project to project & this the one that's most obviously Nihei-like. I prefer his other styles more. What does everyone else think? |

Yes, it seems like from nihei himself. But I´m always careful to say that nihei created this style. Rarely the inventor of something gets popular with it. Maybe nihei also just get inspirated from someone other. I hope that many people get inspirated by nihei and there will be more dark mangas. |

Just browsed trough it. I would not go as far to call mister David Hutchison a Nihei-imitator. But it's clearly that he was inspired by Nihei-san works OR the same thing Nihei-san was inspered by. Either way - it's interresting implementation of original Beowulf in cyber-like setting (cyber-world). And yes - it gives a little bit of blamish feelings. tho drawings a little bit too clean for my taste. |
