I was gonna mention this on the thread about what stories would we want from Nihei on the Manga section, it's something that's been jumping around my mind for a while and now I think it warrants a thread of its own:

One of the things that probably made BLAME! so great is the open ending, seeing how Killy lives on immortally in the Megastructure and continues fighting on in his adventures. Then came Netsphere Engineer and BLAME!2, which gave us a big jug of...nothing. And from what I've gathered by some of the people on this board, there's still a demand for more BLAME! and more Killy.

Whatever reason Nihei wouldn't work something like that is beyond all of us. Maybe he doesn't want to pursue the Western audience that gives this series the love it deserves, maybe he's restricted in some way none of us would ever comprehend. And that's just fine, as I've said before on all the changes happening with Sidonia No Kishi, I at least understand why things aren't turning out as amazing as they used to.

So what if BLAME! was continued by somebody else?

And I'm not talking about some studio that would proceed to mangle it into submission for strictly commercial purposes, I'm talking about the way some long-running comics have gone through. Not necessarily a new mangaka, although there's always people like Boichi or Q Hayashida, but what I'm talking about is a new artist and a new author team that would understand BLAME! and what fans would expect from it and just a few original ideas or characters they'd throw in to mix things up. And of course receive Nihei's input every now and then.

Is this a terrible concept, or would you like to see Killy's adventures progress like that?

No, definitely not! It is my firm belief that Blame! would just not work for anyone but Nihei. I don´t even WANT more Blame!. I would be content if his art style returned to the Blame! -ish way, though. There aren´t enough chapters out, and even less of them scanlated for me to properly judge the story, but I just don´t like the "new" style very much.

Then go back to 4chan.

Tired of Sleep, you're posting on a forum dedicated to a manga getting worked up and upset over a discussion of manga. Think about this for a minute.

On the topic, quality and consistency of delivery of IP is naturally spotty when you deal with 3rd parties. Naturally you will end up with a whole lot of rubbish but also some good stuff floats to the surface.

There are ups and downsides to that methodology. While we can agree that there are really cool artist's takes on certain western comics the crap also exists in abundance. However it is also because of the crap we notice what the good stuff is. It's the natural process of innovation.

Hell, there's a shit ton of crap anime and manga out there too that could REALLY benefit from reimagining.

I don't really have an opinion of Blame! continued by other artists. I'm quite happy how it ended but I'm willing to entertain anything as long as it's good.
