The journey of Killy and Cibo goes a long way, through strange camps/cities, battles; character, nicely drawn, are introduced and are never seen again.

Nice as well as frightening locations are passing by. The story and the world are so complex so that i think there is a need of a worldmap/timeline with all persons, incidents and locations.

It's difficult...

Let me know what you are thinking of this.

interesting, I think Killy's journey is not that simple, that he just going up all the time...
We saw at Toha heavy industries that the gravity can turn around 90 degrees, so why cannot happen this at other places? My opinion is that he wandering in different directions, so its a bit more complicated...

That'd be cool, granted. But there's so many things that's still unexplained; explained only by the fans, and the point of views differ. If Nihei had been clear with BLAME! from the start (and had explained a few things), it might've been possible. And I'm one of those that doesn't really think of the BLAME!-universe as complex. It's just a bit muddle-headed. Cloudy. And there's still so much travelling that we readers are missing, that's not documented in the serie.

If I could ever re-create Killy's journy in some form of a realistic minature structure, showing every structure and place he has been to, right to the end of the city's edge, my life would be complete.

A timeline is possible, but a map, probably not. Is impossible to make a map of the megastructure, or even the way Killy took, because the megastrucrure is always changing. Even the GA didn't have a map of it. =D I think the only thing that is possible to knoew of their travels is that het Killy make a way from the bottoms level up to the outside of it.

Yeah, would be really great to see a map of the Megastructure. =D

But don't yoy think that is cooler the way things are going: tons of things are really obscure, and we have to spend lots of time trying to decipher it??? i like to see Blame!'s world as a inhuman and almost nonsense place, i mean, something that we could'nt understand. Something so big, so deep and so complex that we ocould only walk trought it and look at everything with hungry eyes.

Sometimes, when they try to explain something about a history, all the "feeling" is lost. See X-Files, i was cool when we didn't know nothing about anything, having some glimpses, only hints. When they explained everytinh, well, there was no more X-Files...

first because I won't be able able to lay in the bed and philosophize about Blame! in the late evening.

Heh, I must agree about the map. One of my favourite things about the entire manga is the overwhelming atmosphere of the Megastructure – the feeling that it's too big and too old to comprehend, with no real edges within reach of the beings living inside it. You could walk forever and never see the same place twice. So to attempt any kind of map would just spoil that sense of mystery, really.

There are things I'd like to know more about, though. Mainly about the specifics of what Killy is looking for, as understanding the hero's motives is kind of important to a story.

There's a map, on one of the first pages of net shpere engineer, at least part of it.
But of course that o world like the megastructure is too dificult to map, because it is not only its surface like earth, also on its surface maybe there isn't anything of interesting, also if we think those globe models of earth, a model of the megastructure would be REALLY huge.

A timeline is possible, but I think it's a bit incomplete since there's no big detail in that theme.

If the City is an Utopia it will be no place, like you said. Utopia exists only in the imagination, or the future (or past), bu never noew and here. Alaso are the place where everything will be the same: everyone will be hapy, no pain, etc. There is at least on principle, one greatest rule of how things work and they'll work exactly like that rule.

The City is a heterotopy, (a concept used by Michel Foucault(, in the book The Order of Things). I'll try for now say only a few things about it, but later I''l read more bout and, if mye english let me, explain better.

A heterotopy is a place that actually exists, but is a "place without a place". There is no order in a heterotopy, or, better, there is more than one order. When you think about a Utopia there is tow options: if they follow the rule, they ar an utopia; if don't, they aren't.

But in a Heterotopy you have more than one rule. The absurd isn't exist without a rule, but be in place where two rules exist ate the same time, tow rules that can't be together, two very different order of things. Is the impossibility of all language, periodization. The mutiplicity itself...

Ahm, very abstract all this. But think about this: in an Utopia you have your place, your id, etc. The Rule determines this. In an heteropty there isn't even you, because you can't compare yourself with yourself, other, or anything else. Everything is the other and the same, even yourself. It's the place of diffrence.

The City, a long time ago, probably, had a rule, an order. But now isn't more The City, but cities, something that can no more be put together, where you will never find the truth about yourself and the other. Everytime you go "up", you don't find the limit or the truth, but just another level, another order...

It's very abstract.. hum.. but the idea is something like that. Someone understood?
