I mean...was that a newly remembered defense system of Killy, as his eye does do a weird thing, or a restricting barrier caused by the Level9 until Sanakan's special hand flew by Killy and pushed through the beam the Level9 fired?

The latter. Killy favors the 'direct approach' to confrontation.

You base that decision on just what, exactly? I mean, what was with Killy's eye then?

It's a guess on my part based on how Killy has dealt with these sort of situations from the start.

The sequence of events looks to me like this;

-Killy begins firing sequence
-Safeguard contains Killy
-safeguard begins attack sequence
-Sanakan intervienes
-Containment fails
-Killy retaliates

As for his eye; your guess is as good as mine but it seems to imply some sort of lockdown mode.
