Graviton beam emitter. Killy and Sanakan were both, at one point or another, members (Soldiers, slaves, creations) of the Safeguard organization (Program, software). They are specialized units much like Dhomochevsky and Iko. But unlike Dhomochevsky or Iko, Killy and Sanakan were (Or would appear to be, due to a few mysterious images in Killy's memory) part of some kind of super-exclusive and highly advanced Safeguard unit. There for they both posses skills, weapons, and bodies generations ahead of anything they face outside of the lvl9 Safeguard. The Net Sphere. It would appear that the Net Sphere is the controlling force in the megastructure. This is a world where a data layer seems to govern the physical realm itself. Matter itself is controlled and rewritten using data and mobile energy. There is little barrier between the physical and the digital-data dimensions. This of course is MY personal interpretation, and would require several hours of writing on my part to explain my theory and back it up with examples. Blame! has a lot of very intriguing concepts drawn from many Science Fiction texts. Lvl9 Safeguard. This is truly unknown. One could assume that it was the result of the advanced Silicon Life civilization/organization/group that was trying to extract the Net Terminal Genes (Most likely obtained from Mensab's donation of Seu's DNA). Either as an accident, or with that very express intention. It is unknown. What we DO know is that it came from Cibo, as she is holding the information inside of her. Another thing we don't know is how exactly Cibo reverted to that semi-Safeguard-semi-Human form after becoming part lvl9 Safeguard. I could never figure out what she was doing when she was blowing a hole sideways in the Megastructure after she zapped Killy. Oh well. As for the rest of the questions...Yeah, read Blame! again. I've read/reviewed it dozens, maybe even a hundred times now since it came out. |

ok i re-read the thing and i have a better understanding of what the netsphere is and why it's important to access it. the netsphere controls the real physical realm........the only problem being is it is not functioning properly and builders are making the planet bigger and bigger at random. The problem needs to be controlled and so safeguards like killy were created to solve the problem. In the end, cibo transcribes human dna onto herself in a sphere and this becomes the last real human with net terminal genes able to access the net and fix everything. At the very end, the sphere's zygote germinates as it floats toward the surface of the lake where the environment isnt contaminated with viruses and whatnot. |

also interesting how Cibo is all about transformation even reincarnation somehow: when Killy and Cibo meet, she is in "hell"...a living dead and she ends as a little child....very funny ! Her first death occurs when she tries to get access to the netsphere via the experiment. In the explosion her body is destroyed and after that she is reconstructed from the backup. When Killy meets her, she is half rotten. She resurrects herself to new life, possessing a fresh and beautiful body to rescue Killy and become his sidekick (double transformation). Through the brain to brain connection with Killy, she is transformed again so that her consciousness is preserved after she dies in the cyberspace backup. From there she is able to take over the little-Sanakan body. Reincarnation into a body without organs ! Shortly before they enter Toha, Sanakan tries to possess her body (and thus Cibo). Here Cibo becomes a Dr.Jekyl and Mr.Hyde kind of character. Inside Toha we meet an alternative Cibo. This is the dimensional Cibo. Meanwhile the original Cibo has patiently waited 10 years for Killy. This is the loving sidekick Cibo. Also she has matured and mastered her alter ego Sanakan. When she later gets shot in the head, Sanakan takes over, but just before that Cibo reincarnates into her dimensional twin, so that she goes full circle (and the paradox ends, merging what belongs together). In the Dhomo chapter of the story, she becomes a sorceress-like Cibo (a bit like P-Cell?), with her magic-wand-weapon. Then she downloads the Level 9 on to her and transform again, first into the angelic apocalypse superweapon and after that, into a childlike creature, with a retarded mind. From there she conceives a child (the messiah - a human with netgenes) like the virgin mary (no sex). Her body is destroyed when Killy destroys the Boddhisatva-like first class exterminator (destroyed by meeting a heavenly being). Then she ends up in the temporary storage area (heaven), where she has to wait till Kill completes his mission so she will be able to be born again. |

this has been quite a constructive thread, im glad i made one. There are just too many things in this manga that didnt make any sense to me. A thread like this is essential for a manga like blame. I've been reading biomega too but it seems pretty self-explanitory. ok new question: Why was there a 2nd cibo in toha industries? Why is it that so many things in toha industries is out of whack? 10 yrs have passed in the short period after killy was accidentally teleported? how? |

When Cibo and Killy meet Mensarb for the first time, she and Seu are under attack from the Siliciumlife. When Mensarb suddenly teleports, Killy finds himself somewhere else, because he got caught in the transfer. Here the story about the paradox starts, that has all to do with the malfunctioning gravity furnace. As some kind of sideeffect of the broken gravitiy furnace, Killy and Cibo are teleported into an alternate reality, where the time continuum has progressed in a different way. Toha was invaded by the Siliciumlife, and they contaminated all the people with a poison, thats why Seu is not in order and Mensarb is not allowed to restore him properly, because of some authority problem between her and the central A.I. Mensarb teleported the people of Cave 8 to save them. After Killy and Cibo fixed the gravity furnace problem, the central A.I. wants to depart the whole structure via a teleport, that leads to the destruction of Toha. It is not quite clear whats going on with the central A.I., maybe its crazy like Todori in the capitol. Maybe all A.I.s in the Blame universe are dangerous constructs. As Cibo said: "Toha Industries´Control System is an A.I.....its self-aware. Thats extremely dangerous....giving a management system intelligence and selfawareness...." Mensarb seems to have become slightly mad, because she couldnt protect the humans and save them. And because she cannot reconstruct her beloved Seu.... |
