I´m wondering the same thing Tereb.
I´ve just visited the page of Hanaji-scans: , the group that was scanlating it, and the last update is from April 16.
I don´t know what to think, but i hope they´ll finish the scanlation, as there are only two or so chapters left.

I saw in their forums, Hanaji-scans had disbanded. Our hope now is another group picking it up.

Thank you very much for the link AlucardNoir! At last we have the complete scanlation of Abara as those are the last chapters of the manga.
I haven´t read theses chapters yet, but when I saw the raws I though it was a very weird ending. Hope it makes more sense with the translation.

Thanks AlucardNoir! I have no idea someone else finished the rest of it. Very Nice. Finally, I can start this manga, from beginning to end.

Also many thanks from me AlucardNoir!
But hey, Nihei, you cant draw 1oo ch of action and mysteries, one or two chapters of a little little explanation and then go on with such a strange ending!!
I mean, are the black gaunas now in gauna heaven or what? (because they met others like they are...) And the people are all dead, nature is back, only those two survived, like Adam and Eva in Paradise? hm. And whats with that block that fell from the sky with the house on top, who build it. Sorry to ask such dumb- sounded questions, but I'm a bit

Can't help you much... I must say I was not particularly psyched by the end...
Some liked it, seeing it as a kind of dark tale, a struggle lost right from the beginning, except for this idea of Adan & Eve.
Personnally I didn't like it that much, it feels like all that happened happened for no reason.
I see the gaunas at the end as white gaunas, so I expect the 2 black gaunas to be slaughtered in seconds...
And the 2 remaining humans ? They'll probably breed a bit and soon all their grand childs will be retards because of consanguinity ?
I want Nihei to make some fantasy... The 2 pages when Kudo arrives look really cool and could totally be fantasy if you don't know what it's about, I'm sure he'd be good at it, with some massive castles, monsters, just a bit less technology than usual, but he could use magic.

I have to say that after reading the final chapters of ABARA, has left me a bittersweat impression.
On the sweat side, I find the world, the gauna´s concept, the characters and the graphic style of Abara very attractive and suggestive.
On the bitter side, I think all those good elements have been somewhat wasted with a sub-developed story that promises more than it delivers. It´s as if Nihei having developed the concept of the gauna´s, didn´t spend enough time developing a good story to use that concept in.
About the end, it reminds me the end of Evangelion (the movie), with Asuka and Shinji all alone in a devastated Earth like Adam and Eve having to give birth to a new humanity with the hope they won´t repeat the mistakes from the past. In Abara it´s the same but with Sakijima and Tadohomi in an space asteroid.
I think the gaunas that appear in the last page, are white gaunas (although they physically look more like black gaunas) as they are coming out in large quantities from the holes in that big caterpillar wihite thing floating in the space, that I believe it´s what it´s left of the giant white Gauna.
So as Falk says, the 2 black gaunas, Nayuta & Kudou, are doomed.
Overall, I think Abara it´s an interesting manga but I think it could have been much better if Nihei had put more effort in developing a better story with the interesting ideas he had.

Yeah, you two are right, the thin story is in no comparison to the artwork. I think i liked the Abara artwork even a little more than Biomega.
When i read: "the gaunas that appear in the last page, are white gaunas (although they physically look more like black gaunas)" I thought of the coverpage for this last chapter. The two claws in this optical illusion (you can see one black or one white or two claws). (Actually IF they are claws...)
Maybe in the end, there is some kind of peace in the world or some balance is reinstalled so that black and white gaunas coexist (again?).
May be this balance has something to do with the destruction of the mausoleum?
Why this strange theorie of some kind of happy end: Because I thought, this adam and eve principe works on to layers: the two humas here on earth, the last survivors of their kind and the two "humans" (modified to black gaunas) there, somewhere (evt. in space), the last survivors of their kind.
But may be im wrong and they will be torn into pieces in 2 seconds...
Ah, and about the fantasy, thats really a good point!
Remember the house in Abara vol 10 or the mansion- like house in Biomega (was it vol.02?). So he can draw stuff like this and his dark style would fit very well for such stories.

Sorry if my thoughts are confusional.. I wanted to write down what I think about the ending of Abara but the problem is that I can't recall exactly the last scenes. Plus and don't remember the terms the translators used in English for the organizations (Fourth Chronicle in italian) and other names.
Anyway what I wanted to say is:
I don't think that in the end we see Nayuta e Kudou surrounded by white gauna.
When Sakijima and Tadohomi enter the Mausoleum (Italian translation) they are told that the Spore Ship had two seats. Meaning only two people have the chance to survive and in the past this knowledge caused wars that decimated humanity. I get the idea that what we see in Abara in a phenomenon that's cyclical.. Until the ship sails in search of someother palce where humanity can grow and prosper. In the end as Nayuta and Kudou are trying to shield themselves the "body" of the white gauna dissolves becoming an added shiled for the two black gauna. The chunk of earth in the last scene might be the remnants of the white gauna... I'm uncertain. Anyway it could be a sort of sealed portion of spece where all the black gauna end up (hey stop looking me that way I'm supposing XDD)
Agreed on the "Nihei could have developer a better story" point.
I kind of "lost" Biomega along the way.. Hoping someone will publish it In Italy. Boo-hoo T_T
