I checked the old threads where people ask what to read next. Those names usually come up, (except Mother Sarah, which is another very good post-apoc manga in the Otomo-ish style) along with Shirow's work.
Now if I've read those - what to read next?

i dunno, pick a scifi book from phil k. dick or so. i highly recomend rené barjavel with his nuit des tempes... or something like that, i read it in spanish and it kicks ass.

If you don't mind about illustrated novels, I highly recommend . Nihei even said that he was very inspired by him...
His books are pricey (compared to mangas) since all the pages are in color. But it really worth it.
