Hop', my second post here, lets get deep in the subject

I'm not sure I'm in the right topic but here it is :

I don't know if you lready talked about that (on the old board or this one) but I have another theory (well I think it is^^)

On the BLAME! french editor's board, someone pointed out that in book 9, the silicate says that "the spherical space has a average diameter of 143.000kms", and 143.000kms is exactly the diameter of Jupiter (but I should take a look at omanga's translation, cuz' there's some mistakes sometimes in french).
And he adds "I suppose that long ago, someone took something here to build a city" and "the central axis of this tower still in activity certainly was under the surveillance of creatures living here blablablah".

I liked this idea and made a out of it (sorry, anotations are in french, but it's understandable anyway I think).

Some quick translation :
After wasting the earth as we're doing nowadays, humanity left a dying planet to destroy another : Jupiter.
The way to colonize it is to use a spatial port, in orbit of the planet, which sucks Jupiter's materials, and starts building from the spatial port and extends around the planet.

So the more the artificial city expends, the more the planet's size decrease.

Some fragments are in orbit between the city and the planet, and fall from time to time

The red thing is the tower, which acts like a hoover or a the thing used to extract petrol but I can't find the english term in my dictionnary^^

Also Jupiter has some really small satelits, like Metis (20kms) and Adrastea (about 10kms), which are not so far from the planet :
Metis is at 127969 kms from the center of the planet, 130000-70000 = 60000kms from planet surface. (, the page is in french but the data table is understandable, only digits^^)
As the city isn't compact as a planet is, maybe it may extends to at least 60000 kms and reach the closest satelits.

So Killy may have start his journey on the exterior of the city, where there's still the sun light visible (when he's talking with the girl with a dog), and the more he goes up in the levels, the more he comes towards what was first a planet.
Though now that I think of that again, I should check if everythings fine with the presence of water.

Cuz' in fact the main problem I have with the world of blame isn't much physic laws like gravity, I tend to make abstraction of it or I'll lose my hairs, but I wonder where to find all the materials to build a 170M kms world. The asteroid belt may be a good idea, but maybe we wouln'd even reach the Moon with all the materials from earth.

Well - there isnt in manga - but in artbook was said that structure goes to the orbit of Jupiter. That is 5.3 AU (astronomical unit) from Sun to Jupiter.
Now if there is Dyson sphere around the Sun for giving energy along wiht powerplants trough structure - it should been 800.000.000km structure.
That is if Dyson sphere included.
If just goes from Earth - than structure is "only" 650.000.000km
Taking that between Mars and Jupiter is huge asteroid belt - all materials from it then must be intergated in the stucture - and that is unimaginable quantity of materials. Taking that maybe there was enough material along with nano-material to create such structure.
When you take that tought and combine it with high speed building and thousants of years builders had to create - imagination structure from Nihei isn`t so impossible anymore... ^^ (yeah, right ^o^ )

Cuz' in noise the page where it's written "the old satelites are now part of the megastructure blablablah" makes think of a "planet-sized" environment.
Yeah mistery and suspense is good, but if it was a "solar-system sized" structure, saying "even other planets are now part of the megastructure" would be more appropriate, it would be less confusing.

So how's it written exactly ? Does it simply mention somethign like "it's nears Jupiter", or does it clearly say that the diameter reaches the orbit of jupiter ?

And when you say "maybe there was enough material along with nano-material", mmh, nano-material is still material, it doesn't appear from void , or do you mean it appears from void, don't really know how, maybe with anti-materia, or another advanced technology ?

The whole concept of a structure of the size of the solar system is horryingly amazing :S Nihei could have done a drawing of the entire structure compared with the size of the sun(for example) to give the readers a notion of size, cuz now we can only speculate from what is written
