I don't usually hang around English forums...but Nihei's manga is really not popular in my usual groups and I can get almost nobody to discuss the story. I'm thinking it's probably for the drastic change in the drawing style that both the fans and the mainstream aren't receiving this manga too favorably.

I think you all should know that Nagate is the clone of Hiroki, who is the ace of Sidonia for at least some hundreds of years (because they succeeded in the research in immortality. apparently they can take some medicine for everlasting life). For some reason unknown, Hiroki decided to refuse continuing this life, so he went with stop taking the, say, aging suppressor. However, the captain couldn't let him die and made a clone of Hiroki, and manipulated the gene so that the immortality is inherited without needs for taking supplemental suppressor, which'd explain why Nagate's healing abilities. Though it is planned to transplant Hiroki's brain to Nagate's body, as you can see in chapter 14 (or 15?), Hiroki took the baby and escaped, and He promised to "teach the child all he knows."

In chapter 19, it is explained that when Nagate's 6 years old, he surpassed his Ji-chan's (grandfather. Here'd be Hiroki) score in the simulator. (Remember in chapter 1, Nagate's getting 999999's everytime). The simulator apparently is about some new-generation weapon that they are developing, at the time; probably something will be made in to the 19th generation. This new-generation weapon has a man-made "kabi" that can penetrate Gauna's shell (not sure how this is translated). In other words, now Sidonia has now got a new weapon that is effective and probably viable for massive production; at least no longer limited to the twenty-ish Kabizashi (again not sure how this is translated) they have.

Chinese groups stopped because they are out of raws after Ch.15, and the ones I posted, now dead, isn't clean enough for scanlation. I know some will buy vol.4, so we can at least expect chinese chapters to be continuing posted something like in January.

Too bad those on Share would scan Vinland Saga, Historie, and etc but not Sidonia. : (

I thinkone of his assistants, ate him and now pretending to be Nihei.
Also from the first Issue of Biomega which got a break because he didnt wanted to keep it going. Afterwards he got into completely digitally drawing his Chapters. which loos an big amount of details and Grittyness.

I am realy eager to see Knights of Sidonia in German what will be published now in Germany (DEZ 10) bimonthly with Abara in the gaps. As I can see 4 Voluemes are out. Hope to see more soon. It looks like after the crazy fast forwardb story of Biomega, he tries a slower, dialogdriven Manga. I mean Nihei do this stuff now for 15 Years. The chances of Biomega Earth to the Recreator was also a huge Nausicäeesk change. But I also as a Hardcore fan have some styleissues With KoS.

I still regards Abara and Noise as some of his best drawn series.

I do not like Biomega so much, but everything else (including Sidonia no Kishi) is great.

Now, Level E is due to be made into animation. I'd really like to see a full anime of Blame!... just saying.
