There has been some subtle changes in the Tokyo Pop Translation of BLAME!, most of them are not very important, but noticable, here is a few.
Chapter 1: Net Terminal Genes [After Killy kills blows up the first Silicon Creature]
[Defeated SC]: Thank you that was fast
[SC:1]: Did you find it?
[Defeated SC]: Yes. Pre-mutation genes. No doubt about it. The little one.
[SC:1]: What about the man?
[Defeated SC] He would not scan. Now hurry up and save my memory? No don't do th-- *gets thrown off*
Chapter 2: Memories of the Land. [Governing Agency Representative = GAR]
[GAR]: I've recieved the sample from Killy, i'm on the way back now. Yes. The mutation was only limited to the 10th and 11th Chromosomes. Get everything ready.
[GAR]: We've detected signs of a residential sector 3000 levels up. The systems are operational. But we don't know if there are any people left. We need you to confirm.
[Killy]: "When the cold and quiet land became bright, man's shadow was cast upon yon distant hill"
[Killy]: What is "Land"? [Very interesting here, as they changed the term Earth to Land]
[GAR]: What do you have there?
[GAR]: A hard copy. This is quite old
[GAR]: Can I have it?
[GAR]: It's getting darker.
[GAR]: I can take you to one level up if you want.

What are you basing your "change" assumption on? omanga fan translations? I'm not defending Tokyo Pop i'm just saying, why do you think they are inaccurate and omanga's is correct?...

I simply think earth would be a better way of interpreting how the megastructure has always been any anything else like earth or land has never really ever been known of. thats jnust my opinion so I think earth would just be a better translation. has far has authority I said I hadent check the omanga translations so I addmit im wrong, but I do addmit that since reading the project omanga scanslations first im more partial towards them than tokyopops version. I only have the actually japanese release manga and the US version. (cant read jap so I made asumptions, gomen)

Eh, I know TokyoPop will eventually do something -really- bad. Right now the only bad move they've done in volume one is change from Earth to Land. But this is only the first volume.
However, Blame! has it's quiet moments, and there are many of them, so I think we all should be lucky that half the time we're not really "reading" Blame!

It's not a question about whether TokyoPop or Omanga have the most correct translation; it's what feels best.
But isn't it 'The Governing Agency' they have changed to 'The Authority'? Translating 'Safe-Guards' to 'The Authority'... they're just not synonyms. Well, either way, 'The Authority' does sound lame. Bleh.
